Three plaques dedicated to three campaign fighter ace

An idea of unveiling a memorial plaque to Col Joseph Stehlik came in 1990 when he was still alive. But he rejected – neither memorials nor plaques were to be made to the living ones. This matter was suggested during one of many visits of the Stehliks and Klimeks at the village of Strazek. But it was not a regular lecture held. All the amount for this plaque was covered by Mrs Stehlik. Donations proved to be out of question. Mr Jan Kodras was in charge of all the other matters including consulting with Mrs Stehlik. A detailed picture of this memorial plaque taken by him is seen in No 87 pg of the ´Joseph Stehlik – Sure Shot Hunter´ Booklet issued by the Kolesa Publ in 2002. He also took a picture of the RAF veteran Gen. Emil Bocek front of this plaque sited on a wall of the Strazek Basic School on Mar 21, 2015. As the info as the image courtesy of Mr Jan Kodras.

An idea of making two memorial plaques dedicated to two famous natives of Pikarec – both the Professor Ing Dr Alois Myslivec DrSc and Col Joseph Stehlik - was a brainchild of a mayor and Assembly Members. A huge stone sited front of a local chappel was given by Mr Joseph Pancner a resident to Bobruvka. Both the patinationed plaques were turned out by the Mihal Ltd Velka Bites. The bill was paid by the municipality. They were unveiled on Sep 12, 2009. The event was highlighted by a flypast of two Albatros jet trainers taking off from the Namest AB nearby. This picture of F/Lt Col Joseph Stehlik´s plaque was taken by Mr Jan Kodras on Mar 21, 2015. The event was attended not only by the PM and Gen Emil Bocek. A flypast of two JAS39 Grippen fighters from the Caslav AB paid a tribute to the late Col too. The info – courtesy of the Pikarec.

The expense was fully covered by the Municipality. A plaque designed by Mr Slamecka was made by a stone mason Mr Bronislav Studenik at Slavicin. It was unveiled

by both Col Alois Dubec and Col Joseph Macek. The former is the last living RAF vet residing to the Zlin Region the latter a former post WWII fighter pilot. As the Local Library as the Fighter pilot Joseph Stehlik´s Club were in charge of the event. It was also attended by members of the Airmen Association and the Pribram, Zlin and Napajedla Military History Clubs. A flypast of three sports aircraft flown by Mr Jaroslav Mayer, Jiri Koncak and Petr Pindak paid tribute to Col. Stehlik.
