Memorial dedicated to Col Ladislav Bobek DFC

 

 

One can find it about a hundred metres from the Mala Skala´s sightseeing of the Boucek farm house and near to a memorial dedicated to Cestmir Sikola. He had been a WO of the CLAY Para Group  in the spring 1944 - spring 1945 time frame.

The pilot´s grandson Mr Martin Vrana would like to express his gratitude not only to ones who follow - Mayor of Mala Skala Mr Michal Rezler, the Mr Zaplatilek´s Print Works at Vesec, Jan and Ondrej Stanek, Mr Antonin Stratilek and Miss Morova. Without their assistence as the memorial as the book on Ladislav Bobek DFC would be still his dream only.

The memorial plaque was designed by the Prague Arts Academy student Miss Dana Morova helped by an image of the pilot sent by Martin Vrana. It was cast by Mr Antonin Stratilek a supervisor at the Turnov Secondary Arts School. The bill was covered by the Mala Skala community.

The memorial was unveiled on Sep 12, 2015 after three pm. The pilot´s youngest daughter, a nephew of the first CO of No 68 Night Fighter Sqn´s Cz Flight Mr Jaroslav Vesely as well as Mr Jan Farsky M P were among attendees in addition to the NAZDAR Company Honour Guard. Speeches were by the Mala Skala Mayor Mr Michal Rezler, Mr Martin Vrana and Mr Jan Farsky M P. The pilot´s CV was read by Miss Horakova.  The event was courtesy of this M P. The ´Between the Sea and the Stars´ Book by Martin Vrana was introduced. Both the Czech and Slovak parts of an anthem were heard by all the attendees though the State of Czechoslovakia ceased to exist on Jan 1, 1993.
