NOTE : Gottwald became the first “ worker “ president after communists seized the
power Feb 25, 1948. Svoboda commanded the First Inf Reg formed in the Soviet Union
in 1942, that later ballooned into the Cz Army Corps that entered the Slovakian soil on
Oct 6, 1944 at the Dukla Pass. Svoboda was elected President of the Czechoslovak
Socialist Republic in 1967 for several administrations, though even he had been
persecuted by the Communist Regime early 50s.

Wooden framed La 7 fighter plane of max. speed 665 kmph was armed with three
20mm cannons. Total production 5753 pcs. Only 2nd Fighter Regiment flew them but its
pilots did not engage at all. These Slovak pilot pupils were trained mainly by former
RAF and 1st Fighter Regiment pilots – Valousek, Sticka, Kocfelda, Loucky
/Vallowshek, Kotsphaelda, Lowtskee/

571. The Ostrava Region in Northern Moravia was the last industrial centre still supplying
German army mid April 1945. The last air raid in this war theatre was carried out by
eight Il2m3s on May 6. The objective – an Ammo Depot at the town of Cesky Tesin.

573. As a gunner of Illyushin Mk 2m3 armoured ground attack bomber, F/Sgt Richard
Husman downed one Fockewulf 190 on April 16, 1945. He was seriously injured.
NOTE : His work of literature “Nebesti jezdci “ ie Sky Rangers” was written under
pseudonyme Filip Jansky [Phillip Yahnskee] and filmed in the 1968 year. Barred from
airing for more than 20 years by the Communist Regime. Husman had been a former
RAF member serving with 311 Sqn as a gunner.

TEXT heard: Though there were also objectives of military importance on the territory
of the Protectorate, these ones were too distant for RAF twin-engined bombers. Day-
time Bomber Offensive launched by No 8 USAAF deployed in Britain in spring 1942
and above all the missions carried out by the 5th USAAF from Italy from the date of
Nov 2, 1943 did much more harm not only to industry supplying the German army, but
also local civilians. From the summer 1944 a great bulk of American bombload was
dropped on oil rafineries. This tactics proved to be very efficient and hampered
significantly the German Armed Forces´ mobility between July 1944 and May 1945.

NOTE : No 15 USA Air Force suffered the loss worth mentioning on Aug 29, 1944 over
the Slovakian-Moravian border. Heading for the Ostrava marshalling yard and Privoz
Refinery, nine B-17s were downed and one B-24 crashed claiming 41 lives of American
crewmen. Twenty of them were burried at the town of Slavicin near the Slovakian-
Moravian border. Two airmen succeeded in escaping to Central Slovakia being airlifted
to Italy by two B-17s from the Tri Duby AS used by Insurgents during the Slovakian
Uprising that broke out on the same day – on April 29, 1944. Read more : Letecka bitva

TEXT : On Dec 17, 1944 German refineries at Blechhammer and Odertall as well as
Ostrava industrial installations had been targeted by 15th USAAF. Air battle between JG
300 and the bunch of bombers escorted by P-37s and P-51s over the Central Moravia
Region resulted in a loss of American 10 bombers and 3 fighter planes.

602. The RAF`s objective for the night from Apr 16th on 17th 1943 was the SKODA Plzen
arms factory in Bohemia, being of the utmost importance for the Wehrmacht. The bombs
accidentally hit the Psychiatric Clinic at Dobrany.
603. Three nights ago only a few bombs hit the target. That reason for another night-time
air raid, but its effect was not worth mentioning – Nearly everything wide
