Today is ninety nine Col Imrich Gablech.

He is the oldest RAF veteran and the last participant of the escape of three S328 and one Aero 101 biplanes from the Piestany AB to Poland on June 8, 1939. He suffered both physically and mentally during his internment in a Soviet labour camp from the spring 1940 to the summer 1940. In the 1948 – 1989 time frame he repeatedly went under purge of the Communist regime. Mr Gablech is the only Czechoslovak citizen decorated by the Czech, Polish and Slovakian awards of the highest rank. Open the text  HERE
