Seventy years ago a STW synthetic oil plant at Zaluzi nr Most under the Ore Mts was bombed for the first time during WWII. A soft link of the Third Reich war machine was hit on that day.

Synthetic oil output was of extraordinary importance. Its plummeting caused by Nos 8 and 15 USAAFs and later also by the RAF undoubtly shortened WWII. The STW was nr the town of Most called Brux in German situated in the so-called Sudeten Area of Bohemia in WWII. In accordance with the Munich Agreement this territory was ceded to Germany and Czech population had to leave in Oct 1938. Also the synthetic oil plants of Merseburg, Luetzkendorf, Boehlen,  Zeitz and  Zwickau nearby were targeted by the heavies on May 12, 1944. Open the text HERE
