9th branch Airmen Association of the Czech Republic

Welcome to our website

These ones  came  into existence as an reaction to the complaints of  headmasters of the Prostejov Region Elementary Schools who had not had funds enough for hiring a bus for each group of pupils to see the exhibits mentioned below  in person at the Plumlov Chateau.

Placing the exhibition in its place is logical due to existence of the Prostejov[Prostyeyov] and Stichovice[Styikhovvitse] EFTSs between the Wars. Some cadets spent their leisure time at the Plumlov water reservoir or at the pond in the shade of the Plumlov Chateau.

The Czechoslovak AF during the World War II Exhibits

Being interested in our exhibition, Col. George Sekanina has been our firm friend for nearly a decade. He had been in contact with the famous fighter ace Frantisek Perina and his wife Anna even before their returning to the homeland from the exile in 1993. When the couple paid the visit the town of Prerov nearby to take part in the No 15 USAAF veterans as well as the former CO of No 300 Jagdgruppe reunion on October 29, 2003, Mr. Sekanina pulled the strings and succeeded in bringing the Perinas to the Plumlov Chateau on the next day. Being shown a flight instructor Trunda by our Secretary, A/Com Ret Frantisek Perina was even able to recognize him. The Wings of Victory Exhibition consists of 709 snaps on 51 panels and the very first of them shows the Czechoslovak Flight Aerobats including Sgt Perina trained for the Zuerich Flight Meeting in the 1937 year.
I was helped by Mr Perina with identification of one of them - of S/Ldr Alexander Hess  - seven years ago. Thanks a lot once more.
The Plumlov born No 310 Czechoslovak Figter Sqn fighter pilot Alois Dvorak is seen by the visitors to this Exhibition on Nos 121 and 176 photos. He stands front of his Hurricane fighter plane holding the mascot of the Sqn female dog of the Scottish Terrier called Mita[Meettya] – at right

Air Fight over the small town of Strmilov

Snaps on the Nos 44 – 47 panels are about the No 15 USAAF Air Campaign over the Bohemia and Moravia Protectorate. The August 25, 1944 air raid aimed at the Prostějov and Stichovice AF is not here, but two photos of the No 15 USAAF air raid aimed at the  Pardubice and Kolin refineries on the previous day are seen on the No 46 panel. They are dedicated to all the crewmen but one of the No 42-52479 Liberator airship downed near Strmilov on their back route eyewitnessed by our secretary Povolny aged nine.
