Oct 6, 2006 Reunion

The not only RAF Veterans` Reunion in the DUHA Club on Oct 6, 2006.
It was realized thanks to the Ing. Pavel Sekanina Olomouc Regional Coucillor. List of the participants were made up by me after two year searching for them. Some responded to my appeal written in the local papers. So two No 311 Sqn`s members W/Cdr Karel Kadlec and Sgt Frank Vanicek met at the same table after more than fifty years.
Veteran member of No 310 Sqn Gen Zdenek Skarvada came in person as well as families of S/Ldr Frank Adam, W/Cdrs Frank Brezovsky, Alois Dvorak, Ladislav Valousek, Vladimir Zaoral , Rudolf Zima and F/O Miroslav Divis. The majority of the participants was held by the families of No 311 Sqn`s members - F/Sgt. Jaroslav Andrasek, Ctvrlik Bros, G/Cpts Antonin Dvorak, Vaclav Knol, Stanislav Mikula W/Cdrs Vilem Konstacky, Teofil Kavulok, F/Sgt Jahoda, F/Lt Frank Krejci, Cpl Rudolf Lanz and F/Lt Karel Rychnovsky.
The No 312 Sqn was represented by the ones of F/Sgt Frank Oplocky and S/Ldr Joe Zeleny. A nephew of the first Cz B Flight`s CO of No 68 Sqn Gen Vlastimil Vesely and W/Cdr Erazim Vesely from No 311 Sqn arrived from the town of Jicin, from the village of Lastany the nephew of Joe Bryks MBE serving with No 242 Sqn and son of A/Cmdr Karel Janousek KBC from the town of Prerov.
Also the Land Army`s members George Louda, Stan Liska and Karel Volena, nephew of Gen Vilem Sacher, veteran Col. Alfred Jansky as well as Chairman of the Czechoslovak Legionary Association Gen Antonin Spacek were present .
The grandson of G/Cpt Ladislav Bobek DFC of No 68 Sqn Ladislav Vrana had much to say to JUDr Jaroslav Vesely. Both had been working on the work of literature -the former on his grandpa, the latter on his uncle. The G/Cpt Joe Frantisek`s DFM+Bar great nephew arrived from Brno. After the speeches he had an oportunity to watch not only the half an hourly documentary about the Prosteyov EFTS and after lunch an hourly one on the Czechoslovak Armoured Brigade`s Dunkerque campaign in the summer of 1944 and at last the documentary of twelve minute duration about the Czech Airmen Association Members` - visit to the Sgt Joe Frantisek`s grave in the Northwood Cemetery and the St. Clement Danes RAF Church.
During WWII some members of the families had been detained at the Interment Camp of Svatoborice or Auschwitz. For instance Miroslav Knoll due to his brothers` participance in fight against Hitler abroad. Miroslav`s father was gassed on his arrival at the Auschwitz Extermination Camp, Poland in 1943.
