Brookwood Cemeteries

The Brookwood Military Cemetery is a part of a Brookwood Civil Cemy, est. 1854. See www. Google, Maps, „ Brookwood Cem, Surrey UK"
The Czechoslovak Section is located within a stone throw of the Long Avenue, about twenty meters before the gate crossing the Long Av. and a chain-link fence separating the Military and Civil Cemeteries. Towards the gate, there is the Polish Section to the left of the Czechoslovak one on the same side of the Long Avenue. as well as the white coloured RAF shelter designed by architect Sir Edward Mauffe. Visitors can find a gravestone sought by them in the Registrer here or take a cover here if exposed to the elements.

On Sep 19, 2010 a Ceremony of BoB`s 70th Anniversary is being rehearsed by as RAF as Army cadets. The shelter in the background.

The Czechoslovak Section is dominated by a Memorial with a Czech Lion, seen from the Long Avenue.

A gravestone of Sgt. Stanislav Jelinek who met his death on Aug 29, 1943. You can see Mrs Olga Zadrobilkova and Mr Slavek Letal by the gravestone of Frank Musil who also served with No 311 Sqn. He and his husband Ex-Serviceman Ladislav Zadrobilek were born in the same village of Hrochuv Tynec.

There is a vast RAF Section opposite the the white building where the Register to find is. Distinguished by characteristic shape of the Czechoslovak gravestones, the ones of :

was laid in the No 131 communal grave.
Only ten servicemen did not serve with No 311 Sqn. Twelve No 311 Sqn`s members laid here to rest met their death in the Wellington T2564`s crash inUxbridge shortly prior to their landing at the Northolt RAF. Eight in Lib BZ775`s after-take-off crash at RAF Beaulieu, four in BZ785`s crash at Beaulieu the following day, six in Oxfordu PH404`s crash in the Scottish Mnts and five in Lib KG876`s after-take-off crash at Blackbush en route to Prague after ending hostilities.
There is a pedestrián entrance next to the gate crossing the Long Av. you can pass through to the Brookwood Civilian Cemetery. You find yourself in the lot where above all Czechoslovak Ex-servicemen havee been buried. Watching ´The Czech Airmen´s Association in England 2004´ documentary , you can see the gravestones of Zdenek Illovy called Dennis, Josef Snajdr DFC, Alexandr Hess DFC, Eduard M. Prchal, JUDr. Pavel Svoboda, Viktor Gustav Kaslik, Josef Hybler a Frank Sticka, but also the one of Bren designer Ing Karel Jan Staller and his son, Mayor of the London P.T. Sokol Association Ing Karel Václav Staller. Apart from the many others, you can find here eg the graves of Tom Vybiral DSO,DFC, Vaclav Zima, Josef Frank Ruprecht, William Kauders MC a Charles Alexander Pospichal.
