Anniversary of Willy Kauders Funeral

The Ex-Servicemen Plot neighbouring on the chain link fence coralling the Brookwood Military Cem, Surrey, but located in the Brookwood Civilian Cem,  has been owned by the Free Czechoslovak Air Force Association. Its Chairman Col Arnost Pollak gave his hand to Mrs Inge Kauders not only to organize her husband´s funeral. The Association is usually in charge of inviting the Czech Embassy´s Representatives on these occasions and also did so for No 311 Sqn´s navigator - a hundred year old Willy Kauders MC on Sep 19, 2010. There is no relationship between William and Valter Kauders. The latter served with No 311 Sqn as W/O and met his death in a PH 404 Oxford crash on Jan 10, 1945. F/O Valter Kauders was burried in the Cz Section of the Brookwood Military Cemetery – see the third image below the Brookwood Cems Article – HERE. Or you can find it clicking via the Links and Cz airmen´s cemeteries. Because all William´s family perished in Auschwitz, only two men came from his side – members of No 9 Branch of the Czech Airmen Association - Mr Povolny and Pinos. They brought soil  from Willy´s native country, picked in the vicinity of the RAF men Memorial in the town of Prosteyov. There are two No 311 Sqn´s members in one of the pictures below – Col Arnost Pollak and an Honorary Chairman of the Free Czechoslovak Air Force Association Brig. Gen Ivo Schwarz.  As the ones knowing the ropes they did not walk along the Long Avenue towards the RAF shelter opposite to which speeches held were, as other attendees.  They both were driven just to the gate of the Brookwood Military Cem. All could sit on the chairs made ready by the Cz Embassy opposite the RAF shelter. Not only the Cz airmen have been laid to rest in the Ex-Servicemen Plot, but also wives of some of them and eg. a Bren Machine Gun designer, his wife and father – an Chairman of the London Sokol P.T. Organization´s  Branch. The last four pictures of the Cz Ex-Servicemen Plot need no words. The rearmost one is by Col. Arnost Pollak.
