On operations with Coastal Command for a month, Czechoslovak No 311 Sqn lost its first crew.

Z 1155 was downed not in the Bay of Biscay by Ju 88 long-range fighters but in the Bristol Channel on July 15, 1942 by a Fw 190. The bodies of No 311 Sqn´s Navigation Officer F/Lt Miroslav Cigler and Sgts Rudolf Pancir and Frank Novak were washed ashore in Devon a month later and  laid to rest at the Heanton Punchardon/St.Augustine/ Cem, Braunton.
