Eager to join the Czechoslovak Foreign Army in France he made himself one year older in 1940.

A pilot of the Czechoslovak Fighter Sqn Col Emil Bocek took part in an event at the village of Chrlice on Mar 15, 2008.  A biography of a local Col Leopold Srom [Shrom] was launched there. He was asked to check the data of his own in a ´Members of the Cz Air Force in the RAF´ Book. Col Bocek corrected his year of birth of 1922 written there for a correct one of 1923.

At first he had been incarcerated together with not adult inmates. He wanted to join the grown ups. More in the ´Letci z Holasek a Turan´ ie´ the Airmen from Holasky and Turany´ Book by Miroslav Kopecky, Tom Jambor and Vaclav Kolesa. Published by the last of them in 2006. After death  of Gen.
