Today death anniversary of an younger Ctvrtlik is remembered. Though several brothers served with Cz Sqns during WWII only in their case none of them survived.

A W/O Sgt Jan Ctvrtlik met his death on Aug 19, 1941. All hands lost while returning from Hannover flying a KX-F Wellington twin engine bomber of the Serial No R1371.                                                       The older brother F/O Miroslav a front gunner of the BZ 775 Lib lost his life in after take-off crash from Beaulieu on Aug 29, 1943. Three pictures of him are seen in the ´Letec po hvezdach ´Book by Pavel Vancata. Miroslav was mentioned in the ´Pilotem RAF´ Book by Vaclav Korda DFC too. Published in 1992 by the Mlada fronta Publ.

His yonger brother Jan was mentioned on No 157 of the ´Noci nad Nemeckem´ ie Nights over Germany´ Book by Petr Radosta. Published in 1990 by the NADAS Publ

A pre-war passport-sized photograph of Jan can be seen only both in the ´Zit naveky´ ie To be alive for ever Book by Jan Rail co-authored by Vit Formanek and ´Mnozi nedoleteli´ one ie ´Many failed to return´ by Frantisek Loucky.

NOTE : Three Sapaks born at the village of Lisen nr Brno served with Cz No 311 Sqn. Frantisek and Jarolim as groundcrew. They are seen in No 267 picture in Nos 21 – 25 Panels of the ´VK´ Exhibition. Their brother Jakub was a pilot. All three succeeded in surviving the times of war.
