King of Air
Seventy five years ago a legendary aerobat Cpt Frantisek Novak passed away.
He died of stomach cancer in No 217 room of the Paris Neuilly Hospital. His death was a grief to all the Cz pilots who served not only within France. Lots of them took part in his funeral held on May 3, 1940. A week later dozens of them saw action. In 1963 was the coffin with remains of F/Lt Frantisek Novak moved from the Neuville sur Seine Cemetery to the Cz Military one at La Targette nr Arras.
Early August 2002 the French authorities gave them to the Czech Army´s representatives there. The coffin was airlifted by the Czech Air Force´s transport to the pilot´s homeland. On occasion of anniversary of the aerobat´s birth he was laid to his final rest at his native village of Sokolec nr Podebrady. So his wish to rest in his homeland came true.
