Two anniversaries of ace

2014-10-08

Today the 74th birth anniversary of the BoB´s Cz ace is remembered. He would have been a centenarian yesterday.

Sgt Josef Frantisek DFM&Bar has been most frequently mentioned by authors compared with other Cz RAF airmen. Shortly following WWII for the first time. Even under the communist régime twice. In the ´Broken Wings´by Eduard Cejka and ´Recalls of the old comrades´ Books by Frantisek Fajtl DFC. Early 90s the Prostejov Flying Club was named after him. Finder St at the Cerny most Housing Estate located at No 14 Prague Borough was renamed for Frantisek. Ten years ago the pilot´s  comrade-in-arms Gen Zdenek Skarvada unveiled a memorial dedicated to him in front of his native house at the village of Otaslavice. This fighter ace has been remembered by another memorial since Sep 6, 2014. Situated at the northern side of a hangar of the above mentioned flying club. More at this update. The pilot´s gravestone at the Northwood Cem is seen HERE
