Route of the Balkans

2014-09-09

Seventy five years ago the first combatant-style set up group of Cz volunteers left Beograd for France. There were sixteen of them during September.

An eyewitness told us a humanitarian aid for refugees from the Czechoslovak Republic had been provided by the Czechs and Slovaks grouped in the Czechoslovak Association in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia following the 1938 Munich Treaty. Their number going via Yugoslavia from the Occupation of the rump Cz Territory by German troops on Mar 15 to Sep 1 is unknown to us. These records had been burnt by the witness´ father expecting the Gestapo search of his flat. Both the data emailed by the witness Mr Vaclav Sramek and his edits to the Route of Balkans text are much appreciated. Open HERE
