Seventy years ago twenty one Czechoslovak airmen terminated their service with the Royal Air Force and went to fight in the Eastern front. Four of them met their deaths and one was made POW within this theatre of operations.

In November and December 1943 they were picked from about eighty volunteers who had reacted to an appeal of the Cz Fighter Wing´s CO W/C Frantisek Dolezal ´Dolly´DSO DFC. The Czechoslovak HQ was suprised by their number. Many of them presumed to take part in liberating their Motherland from the East sooner if serving with the Red Army Air Force. Open the text HERE
